  • H1b Renewal Pink Slip 221g Admin Processing - Visa Approved

I attended H1b interview (visa renewal) at Chennai Consulate on 16 Dec 2010. The VO asked questions and I provided the requested documents. Finally the VO said the visa is approved but we need additional information. He gave back the folder with the pink slip and told to proceed to another counter.

The Indian lady at that counter asked for my complete employment history, just the company names and period of employment. She typed it in her computer and retained my passport and appointment letter and handed back my original I-797 and rest of the documents. She told it will take 4-8 weeks for the process.

My question is since my passport has been retained and the VO said my visa has been approved, will I get the stamping on my passport? I was not requested for any additional documents.

When I was filling my DS-160, in the employment tab, it allowed me only to enter upto 2 employers. Has this got anything to do with them asking me for my previous employment history?

Also I am a Hindu and do not have a common muslim name

Anyone has similar experiences, please share.

    Thanks

    Sam

My case has some similarity. I was given 221(g) green form and after a week was asked to submit passport. Though they havnt issued VISA yet. On inquiring, VFS said my case is pending for 221(g) review and is under administrative processing. Good thing on your part is that they said VISA is approved so be hopeful. However cant judge and expect what si the internal functioning of consulate. All d best.

      very similar situation

Don't worry I'm also in the same boat - waiting for my visa stamped passport for the last 12 days despite VO wishing me safe travels . So far my experience has been that they retain the passport with an intent of issuing the visa however you are never sure of the time it takes..

Keeping my fingers crossed.. and here's wishing you good luck!!!

        Thanks

Thanks for the response. I wish you luck too!!!

Just not sure for what reason they issued a pink slip after they say visa is approved. It quite doesnt make sense.

Did they do the same to you

After i went to the other counter - the indian lady just asked about my previous employment dates. Did they do the same to you....I am thinking they want to update the information which u cannot do on the 160 form online....

Please let me know if they asked the same to you on your side....

She told me it will take about 4 weeks. Did they say the same thing to you too..I work for a state government organization and cannot extend my stay as me being there is very crucial.....Did she say it will take 4 weeks or more than that....

Thanks for the response....I dont understand why do they not let us know on what basis is the pink slip given for. When you say the visa is approved - i dont understand this pink slip at all....

I am thinking the VO wrote something on the white paper before i went to the other indian lady counter. I guess i did not read it...

Did the visa officer say anything else to you apart from go to a different counter...

Because of this i have to change so much plans in my trip...After being in the country for 10 years - i think we atleast have a right to know on what basis is this process.

No problem! Nothing much- the VO wished me safe travels before the I left the counter.

I can't agree much with the kind of predicament we are facing. I guess we've absolutely no control on the situation once 221g comes into picture. I too have important meetings to attend before the holiday break and looks like its going to be a tough ask as they keep adding new cases everyday. We've no other go that to wait patiently for this process to get over....

                        All - FYI

I received Pink slip 221g on Nov 15th after the Visa officer stated that my Visa was approved pending administrative processing.

Finally I got my Visa stamped on my passport yesterday. I pray and hope that you all get your Visa asap.

                              @ragsun1

I have attended Interview on Dec 7th 2010. Believe me VO asked me same questions what he asked you. Not sure whether that Indian lady VO also same at the last counter. She asked about my emp history and and said it may take 8-10 weeks for administrative processing (AP). My role also very crucial in the project and i got to execute various projects globally.

I have gone through many threads related to 221g pink slip AP cases. Everyone got their visa but it may take time.....~~~~~~!

                              20 DAYS...STILL WAITNIG.....!

                              GOOD LUCK GUYS!!
