On H1, can I start business / invest money in US

I am on H1 and I want to own a business (say buy a gas station) and let my uncle who is a US citizen manage it and share profit with me.

Would it be legal. If not what are the ways I can invest/do business in US.

It is legal. What is not legal is working for the gas station. As far as your participation is pasive you are OK.
