Come back to USA with H4 or F1

Hi I am currently living in USA on H4 Visa. I am planning to pursue Masters here on F1 Visa. After I get i20 from the university, I was thinking of applying and getting F1 through US embassy in India. I have already booked tickets for India trip from June-July. So once I get F1 stamped in India, is it possible to come back to US on H4 in July? Or should I wait till August and come back on F1?

If you enter on H4, then your status will be H4. You will then have to file for change of status to convert to F1. But then the question would be, why do you want a F1 visa stamp? You could have done all this without the added cost of getting a F1 visa stamped in your passport right?
