Hello,
I have my Masters in Human Sciences (with a Major in Nutrition) near Houston, Texas. I'm looking to confirm if this degree falls under any of the STEM extension categories (Nutritional Sciences category or any other). Would appreciate if you can provide some input on this? Do let me know if you need more information to confirm this.
Secondly, I graduated with my Masters in May 2013 and have been working in a voluntary, unpaid position since with a friend who is an American citizen (supporting her with some of her clients). I should have met the 20 hour a week minimum criteria and also will not fall under the 90 day unemployed category. Now the crux of the matter is that I have not reported this work with the USCIS. I have now been offered a job and am looking to start work with my new employer starting Feb 2014. Note that my current 1 year of OPT expires in May 2014. Also take note that I am residing with my husband who is on H1B status; I was previously on a H4 status and converted to F1 to pursue my Masters.
- How can I resolve the issue of not having reported my current voluntary, unpaid work under OPT?
- How would this effect my job change to my new employer coming Feb under the OPT?
- Would the above effect my OPT extension application if my degree falls within the STEM category per my query in para 1?
Any and all help, suggestions, feedback is much appreciated.
Thank you,
DS
