I am an international student with F-1 visa and just graduated. I have applied for an OPT on 21st Nov 2014 and haven't received any response from USCIS. So, this makes me eligible to receive an interim EAD. I tried (really, extremely) hard and got an InfoPass (luckily) for a 5th March appointment. What I am worried about now (Since, I can't worry about my OPT) is how much time they take to process an Interim EAD? I have an offer for one employer and the start date was 2nd Feb (passed 3 weeks ago). But, I am grateful that they waited till now and not sure whether they will, further. Does anyone went through the interim EAD application and know how much time they take on average to process it. A response will be much appreciated as many of my (future) colleagues and friends are going through the same.
For those who have little information about Interim EAD and InfoPass:
Interim EAD - If your EAD application has past its regular processing time-frame, you can visit an USCIS local office and ask for interim EAD (valid for 240 days or till your actual EAD is processed whichever is earlier).
InfoPass - Its an appointment which you have to get to visit an USCIS local office. It opens up everyday for an appointment two weeks away (e.g. I got InfoPass for 5th March on 18th Feb. If you are lucky, someone might cancel their InfoPass and you get their's, which is very rare). And you have to keep trying continuously to get it (like I tried for a stretch of 4 hrs). Indians can relate it to IRCTC ticket booking.
