Travel with STEM OPT Extension pending - URGENT

I applied for a STEM OPT Extension and my case was received by USCIS on May 14th. My Post completion OPT EAD expired on June 4th. I had to travel to India for a personal emergency and I am currently in India. I am flying back on July 8th and my STEM OPT Extension is still pending. My I-20 reflects the new OPT Extension dates. I have the I-797 receipt for the OPT Extension application. And other documents like passport, valid visa, employment verification letter, pay stubs, employment badge. My SEVP portal also reflects the new Extension dates.

I am worried if I would be denied entry since my EAD is expired and I don't have a new EAD. Has anyone traveled outside the country and returned with a pending OPT Extension application?

Did you have any issues getting back in the US with expired EAD?

I did not have any issues. I had to go through a secondary review. And the immigration officer asked for my expired EAD. He said I would get my new EAD by mail. And took my expired EAD. Also asked for the receipt.
