Hello,
I am a STEM college grad and I used my OPT to work for 11 months after graduation. My EAD card expired 2 weeks ago and I did not apply for STEM extension because I was laid off by my employer and I did not have a job offer from an E-verified company. I now have an offer from an E-verified employer - is there any way I can still apply for STEM extension even though my EAD expired? Has anyone had success with this?
I saw that USCIS might consider late STEM applications because of COVID (https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/co...status-filings) but I do not have a valid reason for applying late other than the fact that there was a hiring freeze across most companies in the industry I am in. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am currently in my 60 day grace period. Thank you.
