Opt card lost-reapply

Hi !

I applied for opt and it was approved too. But did not receive the card . After waiting for 30 days i put a service request and i got a mail saying that they mailed it and did not get any undelivered report . So, they asked me to reapply with 340 $ fee. Do i have to reapply or is there any other way ? I tried calling customer service but they were not helpful and they said they can only put service request after 30 days of my first service request . What can I do in this case. Please help.

Also my grace period of 90 days will be done if i reapply now (cause already its been two since i started my opt ) .Will it effect my processing time ? So, how do i get a job when i do not have my EAD card ? Is there any way ?

Unfortunately...

Yes, you have to repay. There is nothing you can fight against. Basically what you are going to do is to file a card replacement request. Since the original (lost) card has been issued, your 90-day restriction has started already if your requested start date has passed. If you get a receipt for the replacement application, you can start working. So look for job hard or wait until you get the new replacement receipt and start working.

Make sure you apply for replcement card only and not the whole new application. New application will be denied, replacement card will not. Keep calling them, some call center persons are more knowledgeable than others.
