  • travel on OPT....

    Hello,

I need some help. I am on OPT which expires in June 2011. i am employed full time directly and not through consultancy. I am planning to go to India for 2 weeks in the month of February.

Is it advisable to do so? has anyone ever traveled on opt.

i would also like to know what type of questions are asked at port of entry.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    NPD.

You will need valid F1 Visa, I-20 endorsed by DSO, EAD and a current employment verification letter from your employer. You will also need to make sure you have reported your employment to the DSO and your SEVIS record is active.
If all the above is fine, there is no problem in making the trip. Your time spent outside the US will count as unemployment towards the 90/120 day limit.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
