Traveling by car from USA to Mexico

Can anyone tell me the process of traveling by car from USA to Mexico?
Are there US customs officials in the US who will stamp my passport when I leave?
Or will I just get a stamp when I enter Mexico?

i think they don't stamp anything if you go by car. because i went to canada once on a truck with a cousin and the canadian Immigration officer didn't even check my passport. he just checked my green card and let me go. same when i reenter the us. i think it must be same with mexico. by car they don't stamp.
