Travel to Outside of US if Green Card has expired

My is from the Philippines and we have been going through the naturalization process. She has already had her fingerprints taken and we are now waiting to hear about her interview. During this process her green card has expired and we did not get in renewed as she is going for naturalization.

Unfortunately her father has been diagnosed with throat and lung cancer and it looks very bad. She still has her Philippine passport, but the immigration visa in it has expired. She does not have a US passport as her naturalization process hasn't been completed.

Is there any way for her to be able to travel to the Philippines and still be allowed to reenter the US?

I had the same almost. And I had time to travel about 2000 miles to see the US more. I was shocked. But the trip was great and I managed not to get past my finish line
