Passport validity for travelling to India

We are travelling to India with our daugther. Our daugther's US passport is valid for another 5 months. I hear that you need a passport with at least 6 months validity. Does anybody have an experience or opinion? Thanks in advance.

There is no such rule for travel. Passport should be valid.
