Carrying a Stroller without an infant

I need recommendations/suggestions as to whether it is possible to carry a stroller without an accompanying infant?

You can take it but it will be counted as one bag.

Cant I do a curbside check in? Usually folks take the stroller to the gate and then keep it wither in the pantry or front of the aircraft.

Isnt that possible?
