British Airways - Transit Visa- Is it required?

My mother in law is planning to travel from Blore to Atlanta via London through British Airways. I have herad that BA may sometimes require transit visa for passengers going through London. Is this true?

My MIL has a US 10-year multiple entry US visa and has been to the US several times in the past.
