What is the legal status of OCI holder if US passport is lost?

If US passport was lost / damaged does OCI become invalidated ? Does stay in India become illegal ?
If so what is the next course of action ?

It doesn't make her stay in India illegal, but she's not likely to be able to travel ANYWHERE until she gets the physical US passport replaced. If she is in India, she should consult the nearest US embassy or consular office. They know how to deal with such things.
