  • Can I still travel abroad???

I'm a US citizen. almost 10 years ago I was arrested for a misdemeanor. Although I didn't get convicted I still went through a diversion program and got the arrest expunged. Will I still be able to go abroad or is that not possible now?

The US doesn't care. It depends on whether the country you are traveling to cares.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

As a US citizen, an arrest for a misdemeanor that didn't result in a conviction, and where you went through a diversion program and had the arrest expunged, should generally not pose a significant obstacle to traveling abroad. However, it's essential to be aware of the entry requirements of the specific country you plan to visit, as regulations can vary. Most countries primarily focus on convictions rather than arrests, especially when the record has been expunged. However, some countries may have stricter entry requirements or specific rules regarding travelers with certain types of legal history. To be absolutely certain about your eligibility to travel to a particular destination, it's a good idea to consult with the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to visit or contact a legal expert who specializes in immigration and travel issues. They can provide guidance tailored to your situation and your intended travel destination.

Typically, expungement allows travel, but check specific entry requirements of the destination. Some countries may still request disclosure.
