Urgent: Do I need a transit visa?

Hi,

I'm an Indian Citizen, who is working in USA for the past 2 years. I have a valid H1-B visa till Oct, 2015.
I'm planning for a visit to India during March 2015.
I have got a good deal in British Airways, but I'm kinda skeptical to book the tickets because of the transit visa problems.
My questions are:
1. Do I need a transit visa eventhough I have a valid visa on my passport?
2. Is there a new rule, wherein if you are an Indian citizen and not traveled outside of the US within the last 6 months, u need a transit visa?

Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated.
