Apply for UK Business visa while the previous visa is still valid?

I am currently on training in the UK on a Business Visitor visa. Part 1 of the training is ending in February and I will be returning to the country of my origin after it ends. Part 2 (spans 2 months) will commence from the first week of April whereas my visa expires in the last week of April.

Can I apply for a UK Business Visitor visa while the previous Business Visa is still active/valid? This way I can apply for a new Business Visitor visa when I return to my country instead of traveling back to the UK in April on the visa that expires in April.

Is there a precedent for it or clear cut guidelines on whether or not that is even possible?

i misread your post. i'm tryign to find out whether the two are mutually exclusive. like in US they allow you to travel for businss on b1 which is the same as for tourism.
