Is transit visa (UK) required for a valid H4 holder?

My wife and kid are planning to travel to Chennai from JFK (NY) by British Airways in the month of May'2006. and would be back in a month. Both of them are valid H4 holders with visa / I-94 valid till 2007.

The flight is through London (where they have to change plane) and same is the case with return journey as well. When I checked the transit visa requirements (for UK), I got a divided opinion from my friends that they need / do not need a transit visa.

Hence I would request anyone to kindly clarify if UK transit visa is required for them or not. Pointers to a valid source confirming the same would be most helpful.

Urgent help requested, as I got to book their tickets in another couple of days, and many thanks in advance.

They dont need any Transit Visa in London as they both are having valid H4 visa until 2007.My wife left to Muscat via London on Jan'06 and she is on H4 Visa.So dont worry about anything go ahead and book their tickets.
