UK Visit Visa - Invitation Letter

Hi All,

I am on my H1B it is multiple entry and I am in LA. I am planning to visit UK on a long weekend to visit close friends of mine. The british embassy's web site has mentioned an Invitation letter that needs to be given by my host in UK , can anyone please let me know the format of this invitation letter and to whom it needs to be sent to.

also please let me know whether it is safe to travel to UK while on H1B, will there be any immigration issues?
