Getting mixed messages from various Indian Consulates in the UK on
OCI eligibilty.
Born and Baptised in Calcutta in 17/02/1957. Travelled many times between
India and UK as a minor on Parents British Passports. Reside in the UK since 1968.
Have never held or acquired an Indian Passport and this seems to be held against
me when applying for OCI. Indian Consulates say I am not of Indian Origin.
According to the Indian Constitution Act 1955 I became a citizen of India or even
eligible to become a citizen irrespective of my parents British Nationality.
There has been amendments to the Constitution in 1987 and 2003 and both parents
have to be of Indian Origin of any child being born in India.
Can anyone shed some light on this matter.
Thanks.
Steve.
