UK Transit visa--help

Hello,
I am on H4 and it expired in August last yr. I have renewed it and now i plan to visit india. Since i have an expired visa stamped on my passport, i understand that i need to have a transit visa for UK. ( my route is Chicago-london-mumbai)
I tried applying for the visa online... but i am not able to complete a couple of questions.. they seem to be rather tricky.
The questions r as follows:
"You stated that you have a visa for the country you are travelling to after the UK.
What is the visa or permit number
Place of issue
Date of issue
Date of expiry "

What shld i write in these fields?... i tried typing INDIAN CITIZEN but it doesnt accept this in the date field..
plz help me..

Just fill in your Indian PP info

We went to UK embassy for the same reason and got the DATV stamped. For Indian details, provide your passport info (PP#, PP issued and expiry date for visa info for India).
I see that consulate just wants to check only on your lawful residence here in the US. If you hold an Indian passport and your destination is India, they will not check anything on Indian side, except the Expiry dt for your passport.

I really think this is a stupid system. What if I don't have a transit visa? Will they deport me to India? Can I request them to deport me to India using my ticket for the ongoing journey to India? That'll save them the hassle of managing the logistics of deporting me to India. Or they could just not bother me and let me go to India on my own!

My solution to this: Avoid British Airways, Air India, Virgin, and any airlines which requires a stop over in UK.
