Uk Transit Visa----please Help Someone

I am an Indian citizen returning from US.My US visa has expired but I-94 is valid.
Can someone please tell me how can I get a uk transit visa.Presently I am in detroit.
Please tell me how long it takes to process this visa.Do I need to show air tickets for the same??
