  • Is Transit visa required ?

    Hi,

I was planning to travel from Dallas to Bangalore in Dec by British Airways. I have already blocked the tickets. My itinerary shows that i need to change airport from Gatwick to Heathrow on my way to Bangalore. I have a valid F1 student visa issued by the US and is valid thru nxt 4 years. Will i have any probs changing the visa, do i need to get a transit visa ? i have arnd 4 hrs time between flights.

    Your help will be appreciated.....

    Thnx in advance.

    Regards,
    Prashanth

Contact British Airways........or go to the official UK site an dit will tell you what citizens of what countries require transit visas...........your US visa will not determine whethe ror not you need a transit visa in UK

          Hello All,

I had the same problem. It goes like this. You got to have a valid visa on your passport. Thats is if the visa stamp on your passport hasnt expired than its fine. You dont need a UK transit visa if you arent leaving the airport or your connecting flight is within 24 hours.

I had to go long distance in getting this information. I called up UK consulate and even went to the airport and checked with the BA desk before my trip. They checked up on there system and informed me that I should be fine.

So guys those who are going through BA from US to India via UK without changing airport dont need to get a transit visa.

Yes, direct airside transit visa is required if you don't have a Valid US Visa.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

What you have is petition approval notice. What is in your passport is called as Visa, which is required for traveling to the US.

You do not need UK DATV since you have Schengen Visa. Read about transit visa requirements on UK Border Agency website.
