UK transit visa question help requested

Thanks for reading this e-mail. I am an Indian working in the USA with H1-B paperwork. The last visa I held was an F1 which is now expired. I have a valid I-797. I am flying from San Francisco -> London-Heathrow -> Bangalore in 5 days. I hadn't realized that I might need a UK transit visa and am in a bind. Since my flight from London is directly to my home country, do I still need a UK transit visa.

Your site says I do not - https://www.immihelp.com/foreign-transit-visa-requirements-for-india-usa-travel/ but I can't find supporting evidence on the UK site. Please could you help me obtain a UK transit visa (if needed) so I can make my flight home?

That web site does NOT say that transit visa is NOT required. It says that it is required if your visa stamp is expired.
