Hi, I am a uk citizen wishing to marry my usa fiance. We have known each other for nearly three years and eight months ago this blossomed into a relationship. My fiance came over and has been with us for six months.I am a single parent of seven children and have been raising them for eight years on my own so have been unable to work. This has meant i am on benefits. We have just found out that my faince is not allegible for a visa as he has to prove he can support us when the marriage takes place.I lose all benefits when we marry and between us we have to earn at least £30000 a year aswell as raising the children. It is beyond belief that my fiance is expected to support our family and yet every now and again i recieve a letter from the dss stating their natural father has to pay £o.oo for the children as he doesn't earn enough.
The ironic part of this story is my fiance has been here six months and built up a wonderful rapour with each of my children.I guess it's the first real daddy they have ever had.
In the time my fiance has to return home i have enrolled on a maths course and work placement in order to prepare for work as i need to get a decent paid job to help to meet the criteria.
Many have asked why we don't move to usa which would be so much easier and everything is all set for us there but i have two elderly parents one whom is acutely ill and i am their only support network. At this time it is impossible to leave them.
We have been give the ok to marry in the catholic church here the only thing stopping us is finances. We are both happy to work to make this happen.
Please help with any information that you may have
we are only trying to what is right for all of the family.
It breaks my heart thinking about when my fiance has to say goodbye to the children in two weeks and then me leaving him in usa when i return home. Our family life is everything i dreamed it would be someday.
If nothing else please keep us in your prayers for it seems only god can sort this one out.
Many thanks
God Bless
Kathleen
