UK transit visa for my mother

Hi,

I want to apply for a UK transit visa for my mother, on her way back from a U.S visotor trip to India. Can anyone guide me, on the best way to apply for a U.K transit visa. We have some family and friends in U.K, so iam planning that my mother can stay there for one month.
