Does anyone have recent experience using a US-issued Re-entry Permit instead of a passport to enter the UK? This would be for less than 24 hours under the Transit Without a Visa (TWOV) scheme. I am otherwise eligible for TWOV (onward flight departing before 23:59 the following day, part of a reasonable journey to the US, US green card holder, etc.), so the only issue should be whether the UK will accept a US Re-entry Permit in lieu of a passport. TIA for any insights!

Using a US Re-entry Permit (Form I-327) to transit into the UK under the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) program can be risky, as the document is not as widely recognized as a passport valid. Even if you are a permanent resident of the United States and meet the TWOV requirements of having a ticket out of the UK within 24 hours, a reasonable itinerary and valid residency documents in the United States, if you fail to present a valid passport from your country, entry – including transit – may be refused.
