Hi
I live in London, UK. I am supposed to travel to India next month.
I was born in India and had Indian citizenship, but gave it up in 1993/94 and became a British citizen. I travelled to India in 2000 and 2004. The trip in 2004 was on my current UK passport and it has an Indian visa in it.
I have now been told by various people that I require surrender certificate, I don't recall ever having one, nor do I have the old Indian passport.
I saw a post on this site which said that if one had acquired foreign citizenship on or before 31 May 2010 and the Indian passport had been given up then no further action was required and a surrender certificate was not required. Does this apply to the UK?
