  • Transit visa

I'm an Indian national currently as a visitor in Finland, and plan on flying to New York via Heathrow this Sunday.

Once I return from New York, I will go through Heathrow to Helsinki to Istanbul to Mumbai.

All other visas and reservations are done, but now I hear I need a transit visa.

I'm not even sure whether to apply in the UK embassy for Finland or India. I hear I need to pay 64 euro, and make an appointment to submit my biometric information in the embassy in Stockholm -- where I guess they won't let me without a separate visa.

Could you help me understand this process? Which visa do I need for my two hour layovers in the UK back and forth, and where do I apply? Is there any chance of getting them before my Sunday 18th departure?

    Thanks in advance!

Check UK Border Agency website. If your transit time in UK is less than 12 hours and if you are not leaving the international area of the airport, you will not need a UK transit Visa if your US Visa or your EU Visa is valid.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Thanks for your reply!

Out of curiosity, is this knowledge based on personal experience? Or a recitable text on the UK Border Agency website?

Actually, googling for proof of your advice, I found the following file on the UK Border Agency's website.

Seems to apply to my case, so I'll print this out as a trump card to show in case I run into any trouble.

        Thanks again for your help!
