Unrestriced Social Security Card for Asylee

Hello Everyone,

I just received the approval of Asylum and I went to the Social Security Office today to get the restriction out from my Social Security. They did not want to take it off saying I have to be either a Permanent resident or US citizen for that. The asylum approval letter clearly indicates that I have the right to work freely in United States. Please advise.
