Participating in DV-lottery as J1 visa holder? What are the consequences?
I would like to ask few questions regarding a J1-visa and DV-lottery.
Can I take part in Green Card Lottery (DV-2017) if I am already holding a J1-visa? (Assuming that my home country is eligible for lottery and I don't have 2 year home residency requirement on my J1 visa).
Another question: If I decide to take part in that lottery, does anyone know if it will cause problems if I want to do international traveling during my j1 internship period? For example, if I leave a country for a vacation and then return back to continue my internship in the U.S, will they deny my re-entry at the US border since I am still J1 (=non-immigrant) but I have also taken part in Green Card lottery so will they see me as an immigrant? Does participating in this lottery have any effect on international traveling while having a J1 visa?
