Is it possible to travel while in Temporary Protected Status (TPS)?

Hello,

I'm a Syrian having medical training in the US for the last 7 years. I've just finished my board exams and was advised to file for TPS to avoid being deported to Syria. My family left Syria to a neighboring country and my dad got sick there. I was told that I cannot leave the US to see him; is there any way to do so without losing my TPS?
