Hi.
The USAFIS Organization reports that foreign nationals who want to take part in the Green Card Lottery must meet the two main eligibility requirements. One of the key criteria to participate in the Green Card Lottery is to be born in a country listed by the US State Department as eligible for a particular year. The second major eligibility requirement for participation in the Green Card Lottery is to meet either the education OR the work experience criteria. In order to meet the education requirement for the Green Card Lottery, a person must have completed at least 12 years of primary and secondary education (i.e., the equivalent of a high school education in the USA). If someone born in an eligible country does not meet the education requirement for the Green Card Lottery, they may still be able to qualify if they have at least two years of work experience during the last five years in a job that requires two years of experience or training to perform and is also categorized in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) range of 7.0 or higher on the US Department of Labor’s O*Net OnLine website. In addition to meeting the two main eligibility requirements for the Green Card Lottery, the application must also be filled out accurately and the photos for all family members listed in the application must meet the strict standards for the Lottery. It is very important to submit one’s application and photo(s) to the Green Card Lottery according to the official regulations in order to participate in the Lottery and also to avoid disqualification later during the Consular Interview stage if selected.
