  • Diversity Lottery selectee- HELP!!

I've been notified that i've been seected for further consideration for the DV lottery. I send all the applications to KCC, and notified them that i already live in the US under a H4 visa.
I recieved a letter back where they intructed me to go to my Local USCIS office and ask for further instructions, and to find out if im eligeble to adjust status.

I've been there twice, and got completely rejected (by the same old hag) She is crazy, she doesnt listen to me, interups me, and tells me they have nothing to do with DV visas. Well, wrong, because i have 2 letters saying i have to go to them.

What should i do?? Anyone else who is in my situation? All i need to know is that if i can adjust status with them , or go back to my home country to apply.
    Whats next??

    HELP PLEASE!

There should be instructions on the letter they sent you.
You're supposed to submit the DS230 to KCC (Kentucky Consular Center?) and then submit a fee of $375 to Dept of State.

I'm assuming you are in the US and would likely apply through AOS (Adjustment of Status). Check your dv case number. It should say something like 2009AF12345. 2009 is the year, AF is the continent (Africa, in this case). The "12345" is your immigrant number. It determines when (what month in the visa bulletin) you are eligible to file.

Check the immihelp site for the documents you need to send:
    http://immihelp.comhttps://www.immih...s-application/.
Download, fillout, print and sign documents I-485 and G-325A.
Get copies of your passport, birth certificate, school diploma, driver's license, tax documents, and other documents to prove you're legal in the States. This would include copies of H1, F1, Visitor visas etc.
Search the USCIS website for the closest civil surgeon to get your medicals done
Inform the doctor there it's for your I-485 application. Obtain the documents filled out by the doctor (don't open them!) and add that to your stack of documents.

Get a money order or cashier's check for the I-485 application. I think it's $1010 in total, but check the USCIS site to be sure it hasn't changed.

Bind up all those documents neatly and send them by US Postal Service (NOT UPS!) to the Chicago Lockbox address (this should be in the I-485 instructions document you download).

Cross your fingers - if everything is well and in order, they should send you a receipt notice in a couple of weeks and give you instructions to take your fingerprints, etc.

If you hear nothing from them, just set up an INFOPASS appointment on the USCIS website. You might have to be very persistent sometimes for things to get done. Remember, there's a deadline to obtain visas (September 30 the following year you received the DV winner notice), so keep pressing them!

    Good luck!

question : what is the next step?

I won at the DV Lottery 2010, I already sent the completed papers to KCC, paid $375 to the Department of State. I received back the receipt for the $375
and a letter from KCC saying that my case was transferred to USCIS and if I need any further help or information, I should contact USCIS.
I have tried a couple of times, but nobody answered. I mention here that I applied for AOS and I did not receive any further paperwork to complete or any
        instructions.

My question is : what do I have to do further? Do I have to complete I-485 and pay $1010 or wait until October when a visa number is available for me?

        Thanks a lot.

Hi guys, first of all congrats on getting selected. i was also selected and am very excited and just as confused if not more than you guys. i'm a student on F1 visa and studying in NY right now. like you guys i am applying for adjust of status. so here is what i have done so far:

          1. completed DS230 & DSP-122 forms and submitted back to KCC
          2. paid 375 to U.S. dep. of State
          3. waiting for my number to be current?

I believe we have to wait for our "number" to be "current", which you can check here:

          http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/visa-bulletin.jsp

After the number is current, then we can submit the I485

What do you guys think? please correct me if you think there's anything!
          Good luck everybody!

For people who won at the DV Lottery-2010 and intend to do AOS, you need to
wait until a visa number is available for you and after this complete and submit I-485 along with all the "Initial Evidence" documents and fee.
Look on USCIS site for complete information about documents you need to submit.
            Good luck to everybody!

Hi, I was wondering how is everybody's filing status going?
So this January my number became current, so I sent everything out (like I485, the medical exam envelope, high school diploma, drivers license, copies of I94, student visa, I20, selection letter from KCC). Then within 2 weeks I received the receipt letter from the USCIS with my case number. They said they will send me another letter as to where and when to take the fingerprint. So that's my update on the filing status.

Kosmo-- you mentioned that there's a deadline like September 31, 2010 to something. does that mean we have to get the green card in our hands by that date? Thanks and good luck to everybody!
