When granted Asylum should a new EAD card be given?

If a current employee with authorization to work card (about to expire) is granted asylum, should they have been given an updated EAD at the time of granting?

If not and they opt to use list A and list B documents to show proof of eligibility work in the USA, how does this effect the person's citizenship status?
