Wond DV lottery/Need to take exams before travel

I'm a winner of 2011 DV lottery,i succeeded in the US embassy interview they send me the an immigration Visa on passport and an envelope must be opend in USA ,I reserved to travel to US for short time because i have School exams and MBA exams.

Could i return out of US after making proceedurs in the airport and before recieving Green card?
