Green Card Lottery-How Soon do I have to Move to US?

I have been selected for further processing in the diversity immigrant visa program for the fiscal year 2011. I have the interview the 7th of march. If I am granted a green card, would I have to move to the States permanently? If so how soon would I have to do that and for how long?

Within 6 months.

If you don't want to move to the US permanently, why do you need green card anyway?
