  • Renew Reentry Permit

I have a Reentry Permit which will be expired on May 5th this year. Now I would like to visit U.S. to apply a new Reentry Permit using I-131 on Feb. 5th.

Q1. Even though the previous one will be expired soon, do I have to attach my previous Reentry permit (Travel Document) to I-131?

Q2. If I lost my previous Reentry permit, do I get any disadvantage when I apply new I-131?

If you have a valid REP, you must renew it online using e-Service within three months of its expiry date. If you are overseas and do not have a SingPass account, you can submit your application through the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission. It should be submitted at least two months before your current REP expires.sstock market academy near me stock market academy punjab

Reentry permits cannot be extended. If your permit expires, you'll need to apply for a new one. If you have a valid reentry permit in your possession, you will need to send it in when you apply for a new one. You need not send in an expired reentry permit.

You must reapply for a permit every time it lapses. When applying for a new reentry permit, you must include a copy of your current, valid permit.

It is time for me to have both my EAD and my Advance Parole card renewed. Could you kindly inform me with the location of this e-Service that you are referring to? I was unable to locate it. I am grateful to you.

Applying for a New Reentry Permit with Form I-131

When applying for a new Reentry Permit using Form I-131, it's important to follow the required guidelines and provide necessary documents to avoid any issues with your application. Q1: Do I need to attach my previous Reentry Permit (Travel Document) to the I-131 application?

Yes, it is advisable to attach your previous Reentry Permit (even if it will soon expire) when you apply for a new one. USCIS prefers that you include a copy of the previous permit to show your travel history and to verify your previous authorization. Q2: What if I lost my previous Reentry Permit?

If you lost your previous Reentry Permit, you should still apply for a new one using Form I-131. While losing the previous permit does not automatically disqualify you from obtaining a new one, it is important to address the loss properly in your application.
                    • Explanation Letter: Include a detailed explanation letter about the loss of your previous Reentry Permit. Mention the circumstances under which it was lost and any attempts you made to locate it.
                    • Proof of Previous Permit: If you have any other documentation or evidence that can support your previous permit's issuance and validity (like approval notices, copies of the front and back of the lost document, or receipts), include them in your application.
                    Additional Tips:
                    • Timing: Apply as early as possible since USCIS processing times can vary. Applying on February 5th for a permit expiring on May 5th should generally be sufficient, but delays can occur.
                    • Stay in the U.S.: You need to be physically present in the U.S. when you file Form I-131 and complete the biometrics appointment, if required.
                    • Consultation: If you have concerns or unique circumstances, consider consulting with an immigration attorney to ensure your application is complete and accurate.

By providing as much information as possible and addressing the loss of your previous permit in your application, you can help facilitate the approval process for your new Reentry Permit.
