I am from the UK and spent 1 year working in the US on a B1 in lieu of H1B visa for a UK company before changin to a L1A visa. When I got the B1 in lieu of H1B visa I was told that my visa required my company to pay my salary into my UK bank account and therefore taxes were deducted by the UK revenue service. Should I have been paying taxes in the US as well or instead of in the UK during that time (ie when on the B1 in lieu of H1B visa)? If so is it ok to do this retrospectively and then claim back taxes I paid in the UK?
