  • port of entry duration

Hello, i am a B1B2 ten year multiple entry visa holder which expires in 2023.
however, in the form ds 160 i had stated that my duration of stay as 15 days. the purpose of this visit of 15 days being for an exam. i was given a multiple entry visa for the same and got my visa.
off late i got accepted for a university clerkship program (which requires me to have a valid b1b2 visa). this acceptance happened after i got my visa. since this program is for 3 months, at the port of entry i will have to state that i need a duration of 4 months stay in the US. will this have a negative impact on the immigration officer, since there is discrepency between what i mentioned in ds 160 and what i will be stating at the port of entry? will this result in inappropriate information produced or irregular behaviour.
    kindly advise.
    thank you

Hi, I suggest that you don't mention anything about your course at the port of entry.

Hi, I suggest that you don't mention anything about your course at the port of entry.

Normally a I94 issued at the port of entry would be valid for 6 months (if your purpose of visit is not business). So, if you do not mention anything about the short term course you are lined up for, you should be fine with getting a 6 month valid I94.

However, if you mention anything about the course at the port of entry you might be inviting trouble your way as you have mentioned nothing about it at the time of interview.

Just share the same plan you've mentioned at the time of interview at the port of entry and you will get a 6 months valid I94.

    Best Of Luck :-)
