best way for Canadian contractor to attend yearly company meeting in USA?

I'm a British Citizen with Permanent Residence status living in Canada and working as a contractor for a ~ 100 person software company in San Francisco which also has a ~ 25 person office in Canada too. I do all my work in Canada. However, the company is a having a yearly all-hands multi-day meeting in the USA and want all Canadian employees and myself (a contractor) to attend. Employees in Canada get given a letter to support a B-1 entry. I am the only contractor outside the USA that needs to attend. Questions:
* Will a B1 visa also work for me?
* Will a similar supporting letter also work for me?
** Where can I find an example letter?
* Must I apply for the visa pre-travel? Or can this be done at the airport?

You are a UK citizen so you can enter US visa-free for 90 days or less provided you have not been denied a US visa in the past.
The scope of visa free stay covers B1( business)purpose.
you will need to apply for ESTA clearance online.

Carry proof of meetings when entering US.


You will need a visa only if you wish to spend more than 90 days in US or you have a past history of US visa denial.

What type of proof of meetings shall I offer? Do you know of any examples online? Should I get a letter from the company in the USA? Is that proof enough?

They do not always ask for proof at US entry. But it is safer to carry one just in case. Yes, a letter from US company and proof of your employment in
canada will do.

I can get a letter from the US company.

In Canada I am self-employed and therefore employed by my own incorporated Canadian business. So regarding this setup, what type of proof should I be offering? Just documents showing that I am Mr Smith employed by my own company called Smith Consulting Inc.?
