conversion of b1 to f1

Hi all
I have come to usa on business visa and now I'm planning to convert my status to student status. Is that possible and do I get any issues??

Well , change to student is smoother if your declared purpose at entry on B1 is course /campus selection (prospective student). That way they stamp yur passport as 'prospective student' and change to F1 is easier.

Since that is not the case, I suggest you go through a good immigration lawyer. Another problem with change of status is the time taken for processing ( several months).That may mean you will have to wait for the response beyond your current date of authorized stay if you donot apply early.
