Visa to attend conference (B1 Visa)

Hellow everyone!!
I would appreciate any advise that mighty help me to get Visa or prepare for the best ,any opinion on my Status is appreciated..

I am government employee in Delhi ,
Employed in the Same Office for the Last 4 Years ,
annual income of 5.8 to 6 lakh
Purpose of visit ; to attend conference
Duration ; for 1 Week
Its Self Funded but i will get no objection from my Office

What do You think of the possibility or atleast best Way to prepare ...

the most important issue would be this;

Why do you have to go on your own when you are a govt employee?

If the govt is sending you for the conference at its expense, chances would be good.

Other issues;
*Your salary may be an issue. For the visa, it is mediocre( no offense)
*Also your marital status will be important. If married, chances would be better.
