Need to know about the stay in B1

Hi ,

I am in US in B1 and I have the I94 for 6 months but people says not to stay more than 90 days here. My company asked to stay for 5 months and my L1 individual is also getting processing.

1- Can i stay here for more than 90 days or will it bring any complications.
2- Will staying here more than 90 days will impact my L1 processing ?

technically you can stay till the last date of your 6 month period.
It will in no way impact your L1 as long as you leave before that 6 month period.

The only way staying 5 mo nths can impact is If you plan to re-enter on your B1 in future, then officers at US
entry can interrogate you why you spent 5 months on B1. They will suspect you were working and can put your visa at risk.

Though you are allowed to legally stay till 6 Months but you should not work. Also, there have been many instances where in the visa officer cross questioned as to what one was doing for so long on B1 visa. B1 visa should be used so as to appear that one is on business/meeting purpose not for working. No business/meetings would appear genuine if it lasts for 5-6 Months.
