  • B1/B2 Expiration date and stamp

    Dear all,

I'm new of the forum so I hope I'm not asking something already said.
I'm an Italian citizenship, I arrived in US 5 months ago (January 2014) with a B1/B2 Visa multiple entries.
I'm involved in a volunteering project.
The expiration date on my Visa is January 2015, but the stamp expiration date they print on it is July 2014 (after 6 months).
My question is: I know that after 6 months I have to leave the country, but can I come back?
Can I go in Mexico or Canada, and come back in US after few days?
My project is not finished yet, and I have a letter from the Institution that invited me that specifies that the end is August.
I can prove that I can support my self and that I'm involved in a society in Italy.

Thank you very much for any suggestions.

if you go to canada or mexico for less than 30 days, they will let you enter for the remaining time on your stay. for example if you leave for canada today
and your last day of stay in US is July 30, You will be readmitted till July 30. You will not be given more stay.

And going to italy and coming back , you will need to give it an interval of 5-6 months. If you come back quickly they can send you back.

You could extend your stay but it is late. Extension process takes 2-3 months .

My advice is leave before your last date . You can come again early next year before your visa expires.
