Hello,
In 2009 I travelled to the US on a B1/B2 visa. The travel was for business and it was scheduled for 2 weeks. The period of stay on the I-94 was 2 weeks (expiry on the 15th).
Close to the expiry date, I was informed by my company that I needed to stay for another week. I managed to fill the forms and send the I-539 on the 15th (Friday) in the evening. The request was to extend until the 27th. When I left, before the 27th, I gave back the original I-94. A month later I received the reply that the request to extend the stay was approved for 16-27, however the receipt date was 18 (3 days after the I-94 expiry).
Now I need to return to the US on the same visa (still valid). Will the fact that the receipt date for the I-539 is after the expiry date on the I-94 be an issue? If so, what can I do to mitigate this?
Thank you for your reply.
