Forget to collect passport

Hello.. every one..
I want a favor from you guys, one of my friend didn't collect his passport from the courier as he was out of the town those days and he is able to connect the embassy too. How can he collect it now or there is procedure involve to get it back. Please do let me know guys its very important.
