I've got b1 but i need your help, please!

Dear all,

I've got the B1 visa for volunteering in Minnesota from August 2017 to August 2018.
It annotated the volunteering duration and place on my visa clearly.

With the B1 visa, Is it possible for me to meet my friend in Texas before the volunteer service program start if I got my friend's invitation letter.

I've already ask the volunteer admission staff.
She said that I can enter U.S. up to 30 days prior to the date on my letter of invitation.
but I cant find this B1 visa information on the internet.
I'm afraid that the immigration office at the airport will not allow me entering Texas.

A B1-visa is just for business and nothing else ! I'm also surprised to learn you only got the B-1 visa issued, and not a B1/B2.
