If VISA is stamped for 6 months, can we stay more than 90 days on B1 VISA?

I heard that its not advised to stay on B1 for more than 90 days, is this a myth or any facts that can help ?

Visa will only allow you to board a vessel and reach the POE officer and there you have to re represent your case as to the purpose and duration of your visit. The POE officer will grant you the number of days you can stay ( also known as I94 validity). If I-94 is valid for more than 90 days, yes you can stay for more than 90 days. As to stay for more than 90 days, you need to have specific purpose as to why you need to stay so long. B1 is temporary business visa, intent is one needs to visit US for few meetings, conferences etc and be back. Anyone staying more than a few weeks on a B1 visa can be questioned as to authenticity of business need to stay in US for a long time.
